The Work You're Doing in the Community Deserves to be Seen.

You answered a calling. You're showing up for your community every single day with limited funding, a small team, and a whole lot of faith.

You're stretching every dollar, wearing every hat, and still finding a way to serve. You shouldn't have to be the best-kept secret in your city. Visibility shouldn't be the thing standing between your mission and the people who need it.

The roadblocks that nonprofits are facing are the main reason I launched the MBM Cares initiative. Each quarter, I select up to 3 nonprofits and offer my full digital marketing expertise, free of charge.

Some Things Aren't a Coincidence.

Back to back, I crossed paths with three different nonprofit founders, each one doing powerful, community-rooted work in Inkster and Pontiac, but the common theme of our discussions were each one was running on fumes financially to keep doing the work.

One of the founders created a program supporting teenage girls in Inkster because she noticed 15-20 kids on her mother’s block, just aimlessly outside after school at all times of the day.

She sparked up a conversation with one and found out they all had these varieties of interests in modeling, design, and fashion.

The other has an organization serving underprivileged kids, including those with Autism. These are children that the system has let slip through the cracks and are forgotten, but it’s her mission to change that.

This founder described her nonprofit as “the best-kept secret in Oakland County.” In just 12 months, they fed 170k+ people and distributed 2million pounds of food, but they may need to close their doors due to a lack of funding and additional resources.

Every single one of those conversations circled back to the same pain point: they can't pour water into something else from an empty well.

And even at a discounted rate, marketing support was out of reach. But the need for visibility wasn't going away.

This One's Personal. And This is My Why.

I'm Jennifer M. Battle, founder of Marie Battle Marketing. I was born and raised in Inkster, and for over 15+ years, I’ve had a career in digital marketing.

Like most individuals, there have been ups and downs, but I still feel very blessed and grateful for where I currently am in life.

And this spirit to want to give back has been heavily put upon me, and this program is my way of utilizing years of marketing experience to help others in the best way I know how.

Each quarter, I’m going to open up my calendar to a small handful of registered 501(c)(3) nonprofits serving the causes I care about most.

And just like those founders I mentioned, they’re doing the work and so will I, at no cost to the nonprofit.

Frequently Asked Questions

  1. Is this truly free? What's the catch?

    • Yes! No invoice, no hidden fees, no "pay when you can." This is a pro bono commitment from me to my community.

The only ask is that you're a registered 501(c)(3), your mission aligns with the causes this program serves, and you agree to have your organization featured on the MBM website as a partner. That's it.

  2. How many nonprofits are selected each quarter?

    • I accept a maximum of 3 nonprofits per quarter. This keeps the work quality high and ensures each organization gets real attention, not a rushed checklist.

If you aren't selected this quarter, you're welcome to reapply for the next one.

  3. What if my nonprofit doesn't have a website yet?

    • You can still apply. Some of the services in this program, like the one-pager, press release, and donor templates, don't require a website to be useful.

A website audit is only applicable if you have an existing site. I'll work with where you are right now.

  4. Do we have to use all the services listed?

    • No. When you're selected, we'll have a kickoff conversation to figure out which deliverables make the most sense for your organization's current stage and goals.

I'd rather deliver 3 things that move the needle than 8 things that sit in a folder.

  5. What does it mean to be featured on the MBM website?

    • Your organization's logo and name will be displayed on the Marie Battle Marketing website as a pro bono program partner.

This gives your nonprofit added visibility, especially when the site is shared on social media, and it adds credibility when you're presenting to donors or sponsors.

You provide the logo; I handle the rest.

  6. My nonprofit is outside of Inkster / metro Detroit. Can I still apply?

    • At this time, this program is specifically focused on nonprofits in Inkster, metro Detroit, and the surrounding Oakland, Wayne, and Macomb County areas.

This is intentional. I want to invest in the community I'm from and connected to. If that changes in the future, I'll update this page.

  7. How do I know if my cause qualifies?

    • The causes I currently focus on are listed on this page: food insecurity, LGBTQ+ advocacy, Black women's workforce re-entry, youth and teen empowerment, mental health access, and workplace/hiring discrimination.

If your mission closely relates to one of these areas but you're unsure, apply anyway and describe your work. I'll make the call from there.

  8. How long does the Google Ad Grants application process take?

    • Once your application is submitted, Google typically takes 3–5 business days to review it. If approved, your account will be activated, and your ads can begin running shortly thereafter.

The full process, from account setup to live campaign, can take anywhere from 1 to 2 weeks, depending on how quickly Google processes your application.

  9. What happens if our Google Ad Grants application is denied?

    • Denials are usually tied to something fixable — a website issue, missing information, or a policy requirement that wasn't met. If that happens, I'll walk you through exactly what needs to be corrected and help you resubmit. A denial doesn't mean it's over; it just means we take another look and try again.

  10. What is Google looking for when reviewing a nonprofit's Ad Grants application?

    • Google's main requirement is that your organization is a verified 501(c)(3) in good standing. Beyond that, they're looking at a few key things — your website needs to be functional, have a clear mission, and meet their quality guidelines (no broken links, no single-page sites, no sites that exist solely to collect donations).

Your content needs to reflect the work your organization actually does, and your domain has to be owned by your nonprofit, not a free hosting platform. The good news is most legitimate nonprofits meet these requirements — and if something needs to be cleaned up before we apply, I'll flag it during the intake process so we're set up for approval from the start.
